- Terry's System
- The partnership must agree upon a trump suit with a bid at the
- three level or lower. The Player who realizes the combined count
- (OPC+RPC) is 29 or greater trys for slam by bidding the lowest
- ranking suit with a void or an ace (excluding trump suit), and
- partner continues in the same manner. If all three side suits
- have first round controls (or if that's not possible, two firsts
- and one second), player bids 4NT if trumps is a major, or 4S if
- bidding in a minor. This asks partner for his top three cards
- in the trump suit. With two controls missing, the bidding ends
- at 5, and with one missing at 6. If all the controls are in
- place and the combined point count is 34 or more (or if the
- player has an excellent side suit) a bid of 7 is made. If all
- the controls are in place, but the player cannot bid 7, the
- player bids 5NT and partner will either bid 6 or 7. Developed
- by Kelland Terry, 1995. See "Let's Play Bridge Manual" for much
- greater details for bidding slam under various conditions,
- including bids to arrive at exact combined point counts.
